The Vision for the Old Broome Tramway
To reconstruct the historical tramway system, that ran from the Old Jetty at Mangrove Point into Chinatown.
To restore one of the Simplex engines back to working order and to have passenger carriages rebuilt.
To run this tramway as a working historical project to be run by the Broome Tramway Inc.
To create an historical icon so that future generations in Broome and the tourists can enjoy a snapshot of the old Broome.
Along the tramway there will be “stations”. These will be at strategic places along the line:

The aim is to have 2 carriages carry approx 18-24 people per carriage. The tramway would run from 10am to 3pm. On a 1/2 hourly basis 7 days a week.
Objective
- Restore one Simplex Dorman Engine to working order
- Restore one of the open carriages
- Rebuild two passenger carriages
- Access railway line approx 3 km
- Build railway stations/stopping points along the way.
- Restore Mangrove Point Jetty
